it shows the loading screen and then an error pops up that says Initialization Failed
. I tried enabling compatibility mode, but that didn't work so I'm here hoping someone else has had the same issue.Initialization Failed

Go to “Control Panel”, “Program and Features”. 2. Click on “Turn Window Features on or off” at the left side of the screen. 3. Expand “Legacy Components”, and then tick “DirectPlay”. 4. Click “OK” and wait until everything is finished. If the problem still occurs, please check if you DirectX is working. Go to “Search” on Charm Menu, and type “dxdiag”. Please check all of the panels to see if there was any problem. Try this also if the issue is not going away, 1. Go to “C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesAge of Empires III”. 2. Change Compatibility of thees executive files, “age3.exe” or “age3x.exe” or “age3y.exe”, that you can find. 3. To change Compatibility, right click on the file, choose “Properties”, go to “Compatibility” tab, click on “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”, and choose “Window XP (Service Pack 3). 4. Also, tick “Run this program as an administrator”. 5. Click “OK”. |
